ethnicity construction

The Construction of Ethnicity and RaceIn this essay, I will discuss the constructionist approach to ethnic and racial identities, and why it is necessary to adequately and comprehensively understand them.
The formation of ethnic and racial group identity is not a static process. As Cornell and Hartmann states, “there is nothing absolute about the process or the end product”1. The constructionist approach “focuses on the ways ethnic and racial identities are built, rebuilt, and sometimes dismantled over time”2, placing “interactions between circumstances and groups at the heart of these processes.”3
That is to say, c is
According to Cornell and Hartmann, constructionism accepts and builds upon the central tenants of circumstantialism. In “A Constructionist Approach (2007)” the authors employ the concept of comprehensiveness to assess the role a racial or ethnical identity has in organizing the lives of individuals and of groups, relative to their situation. Cornell and Hartmann identify a racial or ethnical identity as comprehensive, or “thick”, and less comprehensive, or “thin”, depending on the degree to which a racial/ethnical identity organizes social life, and both individual and collective action.4 In “The Organization of Ethnicity (1977)”, Handelman similiarly discusses this concept in terms of what he describes as an identities “lateral” or “hierarchical” categorical membership.
Constructionalism addresses one of the flaws of the circumstantialist approach; namely, that group identity and interests are determined chiefly by external forces and conditions. Constructionism, on the other hand, returns agency to the racial and ethnical actors, and grants insight into the extent to which racial and ethnical identities are asserted or assigned at a given period of time.
Constructionalism also asserts that the construction of racial and ethnical identity involves the marking of boundaries and the assignment of meaning. Regardless of whether an…

Getting StartedWelcome to the first installment of the Grand RobotShop Tutorial, a series of 10 lessons that will teach you how to make your own robot. This tutorial is aimed at anybody willing to get started in robotics and have a basic understanding of terms such as “voltage”, “current”, “motor”, and “sensors”. Although this might seem pretty basic, even people with previous robot building experience might find useful information regarding the general method of building a robot. What is a robot
There are many definitions of robot and no real consensus has been attained so far. We loosely define a robot as follows:Robot: An electromechanical device which is capable of reacting in some way to its environment, and take autonomous decisions or actions in order to achieve a specific task.
This means that a toaster, a lamp, or a car would not be considered as robots since they have no way of perceiving their environment. On the other hand, a vacuum cleaner that can navigate around a room, or a solar panel that seeks the sun, can be considered as a robotic system. It is also important to note that the “robots” featured in Robot Wars for instance or any solely remote controlled device would not fall under this definition and would be closer to a more complex remote controlled car.Although this definition is quite general, it might need to evolve in the future in order to keep up with the latest advancement in the field. In order to get a sens of how robotics is rapidly growing, we suggest you take a look at the RobotShop History of Robotics.Let’s get startedThis series of tutorials is intended to guide you through the steps of building a complete mobile robot. There are 10 lessons that will be released in the following 10 weeks. Each lesson guides you through one step of making a general-purpose mobile robot. This will enable you to build your very own mobile robot in order to perform a task of your choice. Each lesson will be…

Feeling Anxious
When I read the 23rd Psalm, I am taken to a place of tranquility and peace instantly. My anxious thoughts quiet down at just the first sentence: “The Lord is my Shepherd.” I love the image of God being my Keeper, Protector, and Deliverer. I am not alone. I have His Presence with me at every hour of the day.
Have confidence that the Lord makes you to lie down in green pastures, which means that He is taking you to a place of rest and stillness in Him: “Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10).”
If you are always running around and don’t have quiet time with the Lord, then how can you receive restoration in your mind, will, and emotions? Modern life can drain you dry if you let it. That is why so many people are emotional wrecks. They are running on empty. But God promises to restore us.
Once you receive rest and restoration in the Lord, then you can walk with Him as He leads you in paths of righteousness. He shows you how to think right, believe right, and live right.
Even though your circumstances may make you feel like you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death, you will not fear because you know the Lord is with you. God’s goodness toward you will be so visible that even your enemies will see His handiwork upon your life. They will see God’s grace abounding toward you.
What is God’s grace? Grace is everything God is and God has made available to you. In old movies about royalty, you see people addressing the King or Queen as “Your Grace” as they bow down. Jesus is “Your Grace.” He gave His very life for you. In Him, you have a new identity as the beloved of God.
In Jesus, you have forgiveness of sin and victory over sin. In Him, you have peace and joy because He left you with both. In Him, you have love and with His love, you are empowered to love your neighbor as yourself. When you consider this, then you see that material things cannot compare with the riches of His grace! Because Jesus is your Shepherd, then you…

Every veteran transcriber knows how much having a quality headset can do to the quality of an audio. Some headsets have the added benefit of noise cancellation and therefore you can work from literally anywhere. However, for beginners, that may represent a challenge since this type of headsets are usually expensive. As a beginner in transcription, I would highly recommend the OTranscribe website. You can load an audio file directly on the website; the audio does not upload to the site but runs from your computer on the browser. The site has text area where you can type out the transcript. The best thing about OTranscribe is the simple to use, one-button hot keys for pausing, forwarding and rewinding the audio file. The transcript is also saved automatically on your browser so no need to worry if the lights go out or you close the browser accidentally.Another great software you could also use is Express Scribe. The best part, is that it is free. And to be honest here, I cannot say I enjoy using it as much as OTranscribe . However, some of the people in our transcription community use it, and have only good things to say about it. Have a look at the two suggestions and kindly have a say in the comments below. As a beginner in transcription, I would highly recommend the OTranscribe website. UPS Case study

1. What are some of the system integration challenges faced by UPSSome of the system integration challenges that UPS faced were: manual data entry input to multiple systems resulted in sending packages to the wrong addresses and loading boxes on the wrong trucks. Compared to Fed Ex e-business, UPS continued to use the “brick-and-mortar” type of business, which deals with its customers face to face in an office or store that the business owns or rents, such as a grocery store or corner bank. UPS also found themselves completely redesigning their processes during the integration stage. The main challenge in this was integrating information to sustain real-time connectivity. Also, they were tested by customers’ desires to buy, sell, and research on their own footing. Originally, they experienced an overwhelming number of customer service calls, which became expensive and time consuming to manually locate package statuses, so the task at hand was to put the power back into the customers’ hands and provide them with reliable and accessible information. They needed to bridge the gap between physical products/services and access to electronic information. UPS made a lot of errors in their original process, such as sending packages to the wrong addresses, loading boxes on the wrong trucks, and picking the wrong boxes just because many UPS products look very similar UPS faced the typical challenges of any shipping company
2. Discuss the system integration solution at UPS. How does it help UPS integrate new technologiesAfter restructuring their SWOT analysis, UPS decided to focus on customer service using technology. UPS wanted to centralize their data into one of two large data centers to eliminate redundant data from being entered. The IT department played a critical part from a business point of view with the integration of their system by installing several different ERP systems to handle all business activities. UPS made sure that any new technologies…
